Editor’s Note

Last updated 30 May 2026

Our take: 21 Street Eating House presents itself as a quintessential heartland hawker centre, offering a variety of local favourites.

We note that while many stalls receive praise for solid, reasonably priced food like the $4.50 chicken rice, there's a recurring concern about drink prices, with one reviewer highlighting a $2.50 teh o ice as exorbitant.

The convenience of table service for drinks and toast sets is a definite plus, enhancing the morning experience.

While some stall owners are described as less friendly, the food quality, particularly the stir-fry dong fen and nasi lemak, often outweighs this.

The Hokkien mee, however, might disappoint those seeking strong wok hei.

We think this is a reliable option for residents in the area looking for everyday hawker fare, but we'd advise checking drink prices before ordering to avoid surprises.

What customers say

21 Street Eating House is a popular heartland hawker centre in Tampines, generally praised for its reasonable prices and solid food, particularly the stir-fry dong fen, nasi lemak, and meepok with giant fishballs.

While finding seats is easy and a coffee stall offers table service, some customers find the drinks, especially teh o ice, to be overpriced.

There are also occasional comments about stall owners being unfriendly and some dishes, like Hokkien mee, lacking flavour.

You got to be kidding me. $2.50 for a teh o ice? Look at the $4.50 chicken rice in contrast. Drinks here is day light robbery. They don’t even show you the price before ordering, who would expect a…

Meepok sold by this stall is very good. Al dente meepok or Mee Kia with giant fishballs ! She is really friendly and nice too.
