Our take: Ang Mo Kio Lala Claypot stands out for its consistently fresh lala, with multiple reviewers highlighting the absence of any sandy taste.
The broth, particularly the signature lala soup base, is described as flavourful, comforting, and well-balanced, avoiding excessive oiliness.
While some note the location is a bit hidden in an industrial area, the quality of the food seems to justify the journey.
The use of real charcoal fire for cooking the claypot is a traditional touch that likely contributes to the depth of flavour.
Portions are considered generous, and the option to add various ingredients like beef, squid, and vegetables makes it customisable.
Despite being self-service, staff are noted for being attentive, especially with soup top-ups.
We think this is a strong contender for those seeking a quality lala hotpot experience, even if it's slightly pricier than typical hawker fare.
Best for a focused meal where fresh seafood and a rich broth are the priority.
