Our take: Balestier Market is a privately managed hawker centre with a history of housing popular stalls that relocated from the former Longhouse Food Centre.
While some original tenants have moved on, it continues to offer a diverse range of food options, from Hainanese Western fare like the $6.50 Hainan Pork Chop to various Asian cuisines.
We note the general sentiment that prices are reasonable and quality is consistent across many stalls.
However, there are reports of impatient service from some vendors, particularly at the drink stalls, which can detract from the overall experience.
The market benefits from ample parking behind the building, making it accessible.
We think it's a solid choice for a casual meal with a good variety of options, especially if you're in the area and looking for a quiet hawker experience.
Best for a relaxed meal during off-peak hours to avoid potential service issues.

What customers say
Balestier Market is generally perceived as a clean and quiet hawker centre offering a good variety of food options at reasonable prices, with ample parking available.
While many find the food, such as Hainan Pork Chop, Economy Cai Png, and Long House braised duck, to be delicious, some customers have experienced rude service, particularly from the old lady at the drink stall.
The market's future was recently secured with a tenancy extension until 2026.
