Our take: Ban Leong Wah Hoe is a long-standing zi char institution, particularly noted for its seafood.
We see consistent praise for their wok hei-infused dishes, with the Moonlight Hor Fun frequently highlighted as a must-try.
The Prawn Paste Fried Chicken also receives strong recommendations for its crispiness and flavour.
For those seeking classic Singaporean seafood, the Black Pepper or Chilli Crab are popular choices, with reviewers noting the freshness and quality of preparation.
While the setting is non-air-conditioned, the presence of fans helps mitigate this.
We note a consistent positive sentiment regarding prompt service and staff attentiveness, even during busy periods.
However, there's an isolated report of an issue with a crab order, which suggests a need for diners to be vigilant.
Overall, this is a reliable spot for authentic zi char.
Verdict: A solid choice for family meals or introducing overseas guests to local cuisine, especially if you're in the Ang Mo Kio area.

Had dinner at Ban Leong Wah Hoe and wasn't disappointed with the items we ordered. Their Moonlight Hor Fun was full of wok hei and was one of our favourites. I would recommend ordering their Prawn Pas…
Genuine authentic Singapore at its best, this is the place to come to for black pepper or Chilli crab. All of the dishes they offer are cooked fresh and to perfection, service is prompt and friendly.…
Delicious food and convenient parking! Service was prompt and staff were proactive to offer new plates. Highly recommended.
We keep coming back for the past 9 years without fail. Food and service is consistent and very quick despite the crowd. I always order the wet horfun, prawn roll, and kangkung belacan.
Decent local Chinese restaurant. Hot plate tofu taste like chilli crab sauce. I was served a injured crab at $120 too. Hope that it's only me that got bullied.
