Editor’s Note

Last updated 30 May 2026

Our take: Berseh Food Centre offers a slice of old-school Singaporean hawker culture, recently refreshed with a renovation that has improved cleanliness and airflow without altering the core food offerings.

We note that while the centre has two levels of cooked food stalls, many only come alive at lunchtime, with the evenings seeing a winding down of activity.

This makes it a prime spot for a midday meal, though some stalls, like the economic rice, can see long queues during peak hours.

Reviewers frequently highlight the presence of traditional favourites and heritage dishes, with specific mentions of Sheng Kee Curry Chicken and Jalan Besar Mutton Soup as popular choices.

The atmosphere is generally described as less hectic than larger CBD centres, offering a quieter experience.

We think it's a solid choice for those seeking authentic local flavours in a cleaner, more comfortable environment post-renovation.

Verdict: A reliable lunchtime destination for traditional hawker fare, especially after the recent refurbishment.

This place has been newly refurbished. The environment is clean and identical to others hawker centre. Long Q for this economic rice during lunch time. Not exactly crowded.

Thanks to the recent renovation, seating area is cleaner, airflow is better while food stalls remain the same - keeping the same good quality 😉

Finally the renovation finished after few months. I can finally have my favorite Sheng Kee Curry Chicken. Other stall that i like is the Jalan Besar Mutton soup and the ice stall.
