Our take: Chirashizushi Shou offers a wide range of Japanese dishes, from sushi and sashimi to various dons and ramen, with a focus on fresh ingredients and generous portions.
The Negitoro Don, for example, is consistently praised for its quality and size, often costing less than $30 with taxes, including a salad, soup, and refillable iced green tea.
We note that the sashimi is frequently highlighted for its freshness and thick slices.
However, the Bukit Timah outlet appears to have some operational challenges, with reports of it being short-staffed and wait times for a seat reaching up to 40 minutes.
Some patrons also feel this branch lacks the vibrancy and service enthusiasm of other locations.
Despite this, the overall sentiment points to a well-prepared and affordable meal that evokes the feel of a Japanese back-alley eatery.
We'd recommend Chirashizushi Shou for those seeking a value-for-money Japanese meal with fresh sashimi, provided you are prepared for potential service delays or a wait for a table.

What customers say
Chirashizushi Shou at Bukit Timah is generally well-regarded for its fresh, generously portioned sashimi and affordable pricing, with dishes like the Negitoro don and sashimi don frequently praised.
While many appreciate the cozy, authentic Japanese ambiance and friendly service, some customers have noted issues with staffing, leading to longer wait times and occasionally less enthusiastic service.
There are also mixed opinions on the consistency of food quality, with some finding certain dishes like chicken ramen's chicken to be overcooked.

I really treasure this place. Great place for lunch or dinner, and their sashimi is superb. Their chicken skin skewers are nice too.
Feels like being transported to Japan’s tiny back alley eateries. Food is well prepared, fresh and generous in portion. Best part is the affordable pricing. Waitress is very friendly.
The restaurant was quite small and clearly short-staffed. There was only one waitress managing everything, and she was rushing around non-stop trying to keep up. We waited around 40 minutes for a seat…
