Our take: Da Cheng Claypot Rice consistently delivers on its namesake dish, with many reviewers highlighting the traditional cooking method and the resulting charred rice.
The Claypot Rice for 3 pax at $18.50 is noted as generous, and the salted fish is a recurring positive, especially for those who enjoy its distinct flavour.
While the rice and chicken are generally well-received, some experiences mention the rice being slightly too charred, leading to a bitter taste.
The Tonic Herbal Chicken Soup, however, receives mixed feedback, with one reviewer finding it plain and lacking herbal flavour.
The friendly owner is a consistent highlight, contributing to a positive dining experience.
We'd recommend focusing on the Claypot Rice, which appears to be the star here.
Best for a satisfying, traditional claypot rice fix, especially if you appreciate a good char and salted fish.

Very nice fragrance but can't really taste the salted fish. Slightly too charred today causing the rice to taste bitter. Paid $8.50 for the small size with extra chicken. Overall above average.
This is my go-to place for claypot rice. One of few who still cook it the traditional way. The owner is forever friendly.
Food was delicious! We had the soup and claypot rice, the salted fish was on point if u like eating salted fish!
Claypot rice is good, owner is friendly. My own wish is that it wasn’t so far from the mrt station 😂
