Our take: Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre offers a vibrant cultural experience alongside a diverse range of traditional Malay and Indonesian dishes.
We note its reputation as one of Singapore's oldest markets, now well-renovated.
The food centre on the upper floor is particularly highlighted for its unique offerings like Kacang Pool, Mee Siglap, and Mee Johor, which are less common elsewhere.
Stalls like Sinar Pagi Nasi Padang consistently draw long queues, even by 11am, suggesting a worthwhile wait for their dishes.
We also see mentions of Gerai Obek Nenek as another popular food option.
Beyond the food, the market provides a lively atmosphere for grocery shopping and exploring local vendors.
We'd recommend arriving early, ideally from 8am, to secure parking and fully immerse in the morning buzz.
Be prepared for potential queues at popular stalls, but the consensus suggests the food justifies the wait.
Note that the market is closed on Mondays for cleaning.

One of the oldest markets in Singapore. Now, very nicely renovated. It has two sections: one is the agri-food market, the other is a hawker center where you can eat cheaply and well.
