Our take: Heli Rock Cafe appears to have undergone significant changes in recent years.

Older reviews suggest it was once restricted to RSAF personnel and offered limited canteen-style fare, including what some described as 'awful coffee'.

However, more recent feedback indicates it is now open to the public, featuring a more spacious and airy environment with ample free parking.

We note the introduction of a new chef, offering a mix of Western and Asian fusion economical dishes, with sauces highlighted as a strong point.

There's also a stall selling Nasi Lemak and other dishes, alongside curry puffs and tea eggs.

The cafe operates only on weekdays for breakfast and lunch.

We'd recommend Heli Rock Cafe for those in the Mandai area looking for a reasonably priced, casual weekday meal, especially if you appreciate a good variety of sauces and Asian fusion options.

It's a reliable spot for a quick and affordable bite, but don't expect a destination dining experience.

What customers say

Heli Rock Cafe is praised for its spacious, airy environment, ample free parking, and a diverse menu featuring delicious Western and Asian fusion dishes, particularly the Nasi Lemak and curry puffs, with sauces highlighted as exceptional.

However, accessibility is a recurring concern, as entry is often restricted to RSAF personnel, and the coffee quality has been consistently rated as very poor by some patrons.

Reserved for RSAF personnel. Nothing much inside except a small canteen stall selling drinks and buns/bread. There is a mixed rice and vegetables stall next door....seriously nothing here.....

No idea, entry is for 3SG personnel and above, which means that it ain't accessible to everyone. I guess it's okie given that the canteen stall is decent and does serve to all other ranks...

Took a 4yr break from drinking coffee at this location and i decided to try it again. It is still the most awful coffee i have tasted. Try it so that you can set your marker for the worst coffee ever.
