We think Heng Gi Goose and Duck Rice offers a solid braised duck experience, particularly if you opt for the dry noodles.
The braised duck is consistently praised for its tenderness and deep flavour, with the braising liquid and accompanying chilli sauce (vinegary and sharp) receiving special mention.
While the pumpkin yam rice can be a hit-or-miss for some due to its soft texture, the dry noodles are highlighted as an excellent pairing, cooked al dente and well-seasoned.
The kway chap and kway chye are also noted for their quality, offering a comforting, old-school taste.
However, we've noted recurring feedback regarding inconsistent service and communication, particularly when items like yam rice are unavailable or when there are order discrepancies.
Some patrons have also found the food, especially the taupok, to be on the saltier side, and the duck can occasionally have a gamey taste.
Despite these points, the portion sizes are generally considered good value, with a duck rice set with liver priced at $4.80.
We recommend Heng Gi for its flavourful braised duck, but advise managing expectations regarding service and perhaps clarifying your order preferences upfront.

What customers say
Heng Gi Goose and Duck Rice is praised for its tender, flavorful braised duck and well-cooked kway chye, with the dry noodles being a highly recommended pairing.
While the food is generally considered above average and good value, some customers find the dishes, particularly the taupok, to be too salty, and the duck can occasionally be gamey.
A significant recurring issue is the inconsistent and sometimes defensive customer service, particularly regarding order discrepancies and feedback.
