Our take: Huang Hong Ji Porridge presents a mixed bag, with some patrons praising its Signature Porridge for its generous ingredients like fish, pork, and fried intestine.
However, consistency appears to be a significant issue, with reports of watery porridge, especially closer to closing hours.
We note a recurring sentiment that the quality has declined from its earlier reputation.
While the porridge itself draws criticism for its preparation and lack of traditional ingredients like liver or dough sticks, some reviews highlight the fried beehoon and crispy fried fish fillet as surprisingly better options.
The century egg in the porridge, with its yellow yolk, is also a point of contention for some.
We'd recommend managing expectations and perhaps trying the fried beehoon or chee cheong fun if you're in the area.
Best for a quick, inexpensive meal, but not a destination for traditional, well-executed porridge.

Came around 6:30pm. No queue. Porridge was watery. Avoid eating near closing hours. No consistency. Doesn’t deserve the top rated foods like before and GetFed endorsement.
Queued way too long for the porridge on a Saturday morning (around 50 mins). The porridge uses century egg with yellow yolk so it’s not very nice. Recommend to eat the chee cheong fun instead!
Not a bad tasting porridge but the fried beehoon was tastier. Fried fish fillet was still crispy when it arrived.
2nd visit to this stall. My 1st time here was years ago.. They have since added more seating at the side of the store. Enjoyed their Signature Porridge. It was full of ingredients - fish, pork, pork b…
One of the worst porridge I have ever experienced. Don’t be fooled by this stall. They do not have liver, no pork slices, no dough sticks nothing. They don’t even cook their porridge over a stove.…
