Our take on Lao San Prawn Noodles suggests a mixed experience, particularly concerning service and consistency.
While some patrons find the noodles well-coated with sauce and appreciate the fresh prawns and tender pork ribs, others note a decline in the quality of the dried prawn noodles and soup.
The soup itself receives praise for its subtle sweetness and rich flavour, though its temperature and thickness can be inconsistent.
The $8.50 Big Prawn Bee Hoon & Mee dry, while a popular order, has been described as expensive given the portion of prawns.
A recurring point of contention is the staff's demeanour, with reports of rudeness and an additional charge for takeaway soup, which is often complimentary elsewhere.
We'd recommend this for those in the Tampines area looking for a decent bowl of prawn noodles, but be prepared for potential service issues and consider the value proposition of the 'big prawn' option.
It's a reliable option for the soup base, but not a destination meal.

What customers say
Lao San Prawn Noodles at Tampines receives mixed reviews, with customers often finding the dry prawn noodles inconsistent in quality and the soup sometimes lacking richness.
While some praise the fresh prawns, tender pork ribs, and flavorful soup, others criticize the portion size and value for money, especially for the 'big prawns'.
A significant concern is the perceived rudeness of staff, particularly a 'China lady' at the front, and the charge for takeaway soup.

Noodles were well coated with their sauce. Fresh prawns were used and their pork ribs were soft and tender. Soup was light and flavourful. Overall, a decent bowl of prawn noodles.

The dried prawn noodles wasn't as good as before. My prawn soup was also not thick & hot as well. Need to train its staff . If they improve, I will definitely patronise again
To be fair, this is reviewing the dried version of the mixed organ noodle. 🤨 Nevertheless, a decent serving bowl of noodle pair with their prawn noodle stock which I must admit has its goodness in it…
