Our take on Meng Hui Canteen is mixed, reflecting the varied experiences of its patrons.
The economic rice ('cai png') and chicken rice stalls generally receive positive mentions for being tasty and affordable, especially given its industrial area location.
One reviewer noted a persistent long queue for the mixed rice, suggesting its popularity.
However, there are significant concerns raised about the malatang stall, with one diner reporting issues with freshness, taste, and hygiene (bare-hand handling of cooked food), alongside a 30-minute wait and a $16 price point for what they considered poor quality and quantity.
Another review highlighted the 'cai png' as expensive, with an egg and a wing costing around $4.70.
We think this canteen might be a reliable option for specific stalls like chicken rice or economic rice, but we'd approach the malatang with caution.
Best for a quick, no-frills meal if you're in the area, but not a destination for adventurous palates or those seeking premium quality.

The Chinese economic rice and chicken rice is not bad and affordable (in the industrial area). The stall selling China food also not bad, can give it a try, although their portion is quite big though
