Our take: Penang Seafood Restaurant consistently delivers on authentic Penang flavours, with many reviewers highlighting the Char Kway Teow and Assam Laksa as standout dishes.
The Char Kway Teow is frequently praised for its 'wok hei,' generous pork lard, and flavourful noodles, with some even calling it one of the best in Singapore.
The Assam Laksa also receives high marks for its 'scrumptious sour broth' and 'huge pieces of mackerel,' with one reviewer noting it's 'worth the 8 dollars.' While the handmade prawn rolls are considered standard, the 'volcano chicken' offers a theatrical element and is described as juicy and crunchy.
We think it's a solid choice for those craving genuine Penang cuisine, especially given the value for money in a restaurant setting.
However, be prepared for potential crowds on weekends, and consider making a reservation.
The restaurant could also improve on basic amenities like providing tissues at tables and revamping the toilet facilities.
Overall, a reliable spot for a taste of Penang.
