Our take: Tanglin Halt Market offers a classic hawker experience, with many stalls closing by 3 PM despite some listings indicating 24-hour operation.
We'd recommend visiting for lunch to catch the full range of options.
The Tian Tian chicken rice is a standout, praised for its succulent chicken, fragrant rice, and the rare inclusion of minced ginger with spring onions.
While most food is considered good value, be prepared for potentially inconsistent service at some drink stalls, as one reviewer noted a particularly unpleasant interaction.
Vegetarian options are limited but available, with an Indian stall offering thosai and rice meals.
Overall, it's a place to experience a piece of Singapore's hawker heritage.
Best for a traditional hawker lunch, but manage expectations for service at certain stalls.

What customers say
Tanglin Halt Market is largely appreciated as an old-school hawker centre offering classic dishes at reasonable prices, with many praising the succulent chicken rice from Tian Tian.
However, a significant drawback is the early closing times for most stalls, often by 3 PM, despite some listings indicating 24-hour operation.
There are also notable concerns regarding inconsistent service, particularly from a specific drink stall (stall no.
7) where the vendor is described as rude and unaccommodating.
