Editor’s Note

Last updated 30 May 2026

Our take: Thai Dynasty Express offers a quick, convenient lunch option, particularly for those in the Western Water Catchment area.

The fried rice receives positive mentions for its wok hei and flavour, especially when paired with XO sauce.

However, we note consistent feedback regarding portion sizes, with several diners finding the $7 sets, like the fried rice with two meats, one vegetable, and an egg, to be insufficient for a filling meal.

The taste profile also appears inconsistent, with some describing it as bland, while others find it acceptable.

Service quality is a significant concern, with reports of rude staff interactions, particularly concerning receipt checks and chilli sauce distribution.

The dining environment also presents challenges, including a noticeable fried smell and cleanliness issues, with mentions of flies.

We'd recommend Thai Dynasty Express for a quick, no-frills takeaway if you're in the vicinity and specifically craving fried rice, but manage expectations regarding portion size, service, and the dine-in experience.

Wok Hei strong here. Fried rice is nice. May be dry so do add eggs. Its a Yum. Get their XO for more flavours. Many people queue so please have patience.
