Our take: Thye Guan Fragrant Hot Pot in Bukit Panjang appears to be struggling with basic food quality and consistency.
Multiple reports highlight issues ranging from sour ingredients, specifically cheese tofu and crab meat, to dishes that lack flavour integration, such as the 辣子鸡 (spicy chicken).
A significant concern is the reported lack of proper weighing for mala hotpot ingredients, leading to arbitrary pricing and a lack of transparency for customers.
Furthermore, dishes like stir-fried cabbage have been noted for being excessively oily.
While the staff reportedly claimed ingredients were 'freshly opened,' the recurring issue of sour items and cold, re-served food suggests deeper problems with food handling or preparation.
We'd advise caution for those considering a visit, especially given the consistent low ratings and specific complaints about food safety and quality.
We think it's best to avoid until significant improvements are confirmed.

Visited 163 Ma La on a Friday night for dinner as it’s usually my go-to Ma La place since it’s close to where I stay. However, this will be my last visit and the last time I’ll be eating Thye Guan’s M…
Just ordered 辣子鸡 for supper. Today is a disappointment. The chicken cubes taste like chicken cubes, the peanuts just taste peanut.. the whole dish doesn't blend together well. so sad.
Pricing , anyhow Look at the receipt. I order mala hotpot , I picked my own ingredients I gave it to the staff, I was looking at the process all the way, whatever I've took, never reach the weighing…
Taste is average, but very oily. Ordered stir fried cabbage and as you can see, the cabbage is swimming in a pool of oil. After finishing the dish there’s still this much oil left.
