Our take: Uncle Penyet Serangoon appears to be a mixed bag, with some patrons finding the food acceptable for its price point, while others report significant issues with hygiene and service.

The lemongrass curry chicken rice, priced at $6.80, is noted as filling, though not exceptional in flavor.

The mee rebus, however, receives positive remarks for its thick gravy and generous portions.

However, we're concerned by multiple reports of poor hygiene practices, including staff not wearing masks or gloves, and handling food with bare hands.

The presence of a large piece of eggshell in a nasi lemak order points to a lack of quality control.

Service is also a recurring complaint, with staff described as rude, unprofessional, and slow, even refusing to assist with takeaway packaging unless an additional fee is paid.

The omission of ingredients like taupok without notification further adds to customer dissatisfaction.

Verdict: We'd advise caution.

While some dishes might offer value, the consistent feedback on hygiene and service issues makes it a risky choice.

I ordered nasi lemak from this stall and had a horrible experience. The egg they served contained a very large piece of eggshell, which is completely unacceptable. If it were a tiny fragment, I might…

Tried the lemongrass curry chicken rice. Taste was quite ok. Looks impressive but nothing super duper in the flavour. Can filled your belly for $6.80. Will probably try the ayam penyet the next time.

Value for money nasi padang. Had the mee rebus and bee hoon today. Mee rebus is super good with thick gravy and a nice blend of chilli. Stall is very generous with portions. Satisfying meal overall.

The food here is really so-so and overrated. The chicken is to dry and other items are overly spicy. I would not come back again.
