Editor’s Note
Last updated 21 Jul 2026
XLX Modern Tze Char offers a distinctive dining experience, particularly with its private dome rooms equipped with KTV, which many reviewers highlight as a major draw for celebrations and group dinners.
The food receives consistent praise for being unique and flavorful, with the fried hor fun with lala specifically called out as a standout.
Service in the private rooms is generally described as attentive and friendly, with staff going the extra mile for special occasions.
However, we note a significant disparity in service quality depending on spending.
Customers not meeting the $300 minimum for 'VIP services' in the private domes report long wait times for dishes and a lack of basic table service, such as plate changes.
This suggests a tiered service model that can lead to frustration for those dining outside the private room experience.
While the atmosphere in the domes is celebrated, the general outdoor dining area is described by some as 'rowdy.' We recommend XLX Modern Tze Char primarily for groups willing to book a private dome and meet the minimum spend, ensuring a memorable and well-serviced experience.
For casual dining or smaller groups, be prepared for potentially slower service and a less refined atmosphere.
