Our take: Lickers has earned its cult following over 11 years with a rotating gelato lineup that genuinely delivers — the Hazelnut Truffle and Honeycomb flavours draw repeat visitors, and seasonals like the Pandan Gula and Mao Shan Wang durian scoop show a kitchen that takes its craft seriously.
The waffles pair well, though don't expect a shatteringly crisp exterior; the texture runs airier than the Hong Kong-style benchmark, and at $14.50 for a waffle combo, expectations are reasonably high.
Flavour consistency is the main asterisk — the Rum & Raisin and Roasted Pistachio have drawn complaints for tasting muted, suggesting execution isn't always uniform across outlets or batches.
Service is the other variable: most visits skew warm and patient, with staff happy to let you taste around the bar, but a specific staff member at one outlet has attracted multiple independent complaints about a rushed, dismissive manner — something management should address directly.
The truffle fries are a legitimate sidekick worth ordering.
Best for neighbourhood regulars and late-night dessert runs — outlets stay open past midnight.
If you're making a special trip, the Hougang original outlet carries the most sentimental consistency; avoid peak Saturday nights if waffle orders are your priority.

What customers say
Lickers enjoys strong overall affection for its gelato and ice cream, with standout flavours including Honeycomb, Pistachio, Hazelnut Truffle, Valrhona Chocolate, Milo, and Mao Shan Wang durian drawing repeated visits and enthusiastic praise for richness and creaminess.
The waffle-and-ice-cream pairing is a popular draw, though some customers find the waffles only lightly crisp rather than properly crunchy, and pricing — currently around $5 a scoop and $14.50 for a waffle set — draws occasional grumbles about value.
Staff experience is polarising: verified members and many Google reviewers consistently praise friendly, patient counter staff (with named shoutouts to Xiu Qing and Felix), while a cluster of 1–2 star reviews specifically cite a female staff member at one outlet as dismissive, impatient, and rushing customers during ordering.
Operationally, a busy Saturday night incident at one outlet saw a group's waffle order lost twice with no apology offered, and takeaway handling drew complaints about ice cream pints being packed without cooler bags, pointing to inconsistency in peak-hour service and packaging standards.

I had your best ice-cream dining experience last Thursday on 4 June together with my friends. Your ice-cream and waffle tastes very delicious. I can see two service staffs whom are Xiu Qing and another female staff working so hard together as a team to run the operation. I know it’s not easy when two staffs are working together and when there tend to be more customers. I sincerely thank both of u for all the hard work and effort that u guys gave in. Well done and keep up the great effort. Let’s make the company’s proud as u represent it.👏👏👏💪💪💪

The gelato is to die for here, had the honey comb and the varhona. The brewed tea, presumably made fresh - was otherworldly. We had the strawberry Lime. Contrary’s to some reviewers’ comments abt the too espressoness of the americano, I can only say the coffee is first rate and the aroma is stunning and it is a perfect paring with the ice cream. Most importantly this is a place that makes people happy: everyone around me was having a great time and us too!

Licker's ice cream at Hougang has been one of my go-to spots for ice cream, and I've been back many times. They have a great selection of flavours, so there's always something new to try. My personal favourites are the Pistachio and any flavour with truffle—they're rich, creamy, and packed with flavour. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely keep coming back! 👍💪👌👀
