Our take: Papa Ayam has carved out a reliable niche in Singapore's Indonesian fried chicken scene, and the $9.60 Ayam Gepuk is the reason to visit.
At its best — crispy skin, genuinely tender meat, spicy sambal on the side — it delivers solid value for the price.
The tiered spice system (up to level 15) is a genuine differentiator; reviewers flag that level 7 already outpaces Korean buldak noodles, so choose carefully.
The green and orange sauces draw consistent praise, and the Indomie add-on is a crowd-pleaser done right.
That said, consistency is the brand's soft underbelly.
Some batches arrive underseasoned or carry a gamey note that suggests inconsistent raw-chicken prep; the sambal has been called watery on off days.

First time trying Papa Ayam and honestly not bad! Ordered the Ayam Gepuk ($9.90) and added an egg for $1. The portion was quite generous and the chicken piece was huge. The skin was nice and crispy, while the meat was surprisingly tender and juicy, not dry at all. I also liked the vegetables and sambal, they went really well with the chicken. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the egg. I wish they served it sunny side up instead of an omelette, would have been even better. Overall, a satisfying meal and quite worth the price. Will come back again if I’m craving ayam gepuk!

Tried Ayam Geprek for the first time and had a really good experience. I liked that there were different spice levels available. The chicken was crispy and fried nicely, while the rice was prepared well. I also enjoyed the green and orange sauces, and the chilli had a nice sour and spicy kick. The dish came with simple sides like keropok and cucumber, which went well with the meal. The service was excellent too. The staff was friendly, attentive and professional. Overall, the food and service were great, and I would be happy to return.

I was craving Ayam gepruk and stumbled upon this shop at at PLQ. The fried chicken was super well done, crispy tender and not oil at all! The sauce was penuty and chilli has a great mix! Chilli is very spicy btw so choose your level wisely. The staffs were super friendly including the chefs but did not manage to get their names, I met faris and prince, and they were very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again :)
