STAMPEDE is an AI-powered loyalty and marketing platform for local businesses, starting at $50 per outlet per month. It replaces paper stamp cards with a digital system that works via QR code. no app download, no technical setup required. STAMPEDE AI PTE. LTD. (UEN 202611946M) is headquartered in Singapore.

OMMA Chicken Soup is a hawker stall at Bedok Market Food Centre. one of Singapore's approximately 13,400 licensed hawker stalls. They specialise in Samgyetang. Korean ginseng chicken soup. along with rice sets and Korean side dishes. Two stalls. Bedok at the heart. No marketing budget. Small POS system. The stall operates under NEA hawker management. No previous loyalty program.

On March 13, 2026, they stuck a QR code on their counter.

As of writing, they have 2,485 loyalty members. A 50.2% coupon redemption rate. And they spend $50 a month.

This is what happened.

The problem

Josiah Tan runs OMMA Chicken Soup and co-founded CHA MULAN, a bubble tea brand with 7 outlets across Singapore. Despite operating multiple F&B businesses, he had the same problem every hawker stall owner has:

No customer data. No way to identify regulars. No way to bring someone back if they stopped coming.

He'd looked into loyalty programs before. The friction was always the same.

"Low signup rate for most memberships is because customers are required to download apps OR take more than 1 minute to join a web app."

. Josiah Tan, Co-founder of CHA MULAN and OMMA Chicken Soup

Paper stamp cards weren't an option either. They get lost, faked, and tell you nothing about who your customers are.

He also wanted a referral program. a way to reward customers for bringing friends. But he couldn't find a single platform in Singapore that offered referrals at a price a hawker stall could afford.

Josiah needed something that worked for Bedok Market customers. including aunties and uncles who'd never downloaded an app in their life.

The setup

STAMPEDE went live at OMMA on March 13, 2026. Setup took 15 minutes.

Here's what was involved:

  • Brand name, logo, and colours configured in the setup wizard

  • 10-stamp card with 3 milestones:

    • 3 stamps: FREE Kimchi

    • 6 stamps: FREE Onsen Egg

    • 10 stamps: $3 OFF next purchase

  • Welcome reward: Kimchi at $0.50 (first-visit incentive)

  • Birthday reward: FREE Onsen Egg

  • Referral reward: $1 off for both referrer and friend

  • QR code sticker printed and placed at the counter

  • One part-timer (Clarisse) briefed on mentioning it to customers

Works alongside any POS. No app to install on the staff's phone. No hardware. Just a browser and a QR sticker.

The customer experience: scan QR code with phone camera → enter phone number → get first stamp + welcome reward. Total time: under 30 seconds.

"My members could sign up within 30 seconds on any phone without downloading an app. PLUS, they can re-log in within 5 seconds without memorising any URL or open any app."

What worked

Zero-friction signup

The single biggest factor. Customers scan a QR code and enter their phone number. That's it. No app download. No email. No account creation. No password.

This matters at a hawker centre where the average customer interaction is 30 seconds. If the loyalty system takes longer than the ordering process, it fails.

At OMMA, the signup flow worked for customers of all ages. including elderly customers who had never used a digital stamp card before. The large fonts and simple flow made the difference.

The right welcome reward

Kimchi at $0.50. not free, but almost. This gave customers an immediate reason to scan the QR code without it feeling like a giveaway. The welcome reward is about getting the first scan, not the first sale.

Milestones that match the menu

The reward structure was designed around what OMMA actually sells. FREE Kimchi at 3 stamps (low barrier, fast reward). FREE Onsen Egg at 6 stamps (mid-card motivation). $3 OFF at 10 stamps (meaningful discount on a ~$7 meal).

Three milestones across a 10-stamp card means the customer is never more than 3-4 visits from the next reward. Paper cards with a single reward at stamp 10 lose people at stamp 4.

Staff mention

Clarisse, the part-timer at the counter, mentioned the loyalty card to customers during ordering. One sentence: "Would you like to get $0.50 kimchi? Just scan the QR code." This accounted for a meaningful portion of signups. The QR sticker alone wasn't enough. the human prompt mattered.

Referral program

This was the feature Josiah couldn't find anywhere else in Singapore. He'd searched. no loyalty platform offered referrals at a price a hawker stall could afford.

"In the past, my members could not be rewarded when they refer friends. But now I can reward them for bringing new paying customers to my stores!"

. Josiah Tan

Every OMMA customer gets a personal referral link. When a friend signs up through that link and visits, both get $1 off. Simple. The referral program turned existing customers into a free acquisition channel. no ad spend required.

Coupon security

Every coupon has a unique QR code with a live timestamp and 3-minute timeout. Staff scan the coupon QR to redeem. no screenshots, no reuse. This eliminated the coupon fraud problem that paper cards can't solve.

Real-time stamps

Stamps update on the customer's phone instantly in real time. There's no "check back later" moment. The customer sees the stamp appear the second the cashier scans. This creates a small dopamine hit that reinforces the behaviour.

What we learned

50.2% redemption rate is real. Paper stamp card industry average is 10–20% because people lose the cards. Digital puts the coupon on their phone where it can't be lost. The combination of accessibility and milestone-based rewards drove a redemption rate roughly 3x the paper average.

Elderly customers will use it. This was the biggest unknown going in. Would Bedok Market regulars. many of them 60+. actually scan a QR code? They did. The key was no app download, large fonts, and a simple flow that matched the CDC voucher experience they were already familiar with.

$50/month is a rounding error. For a hawker stall doing $200–$500 per day in revenue, $50/month for a system that identifies regulars and drives repeat visits is less than a day's rent. The ROI question isn't whether the tool pays for itself. It's how fast.

Multiple milestones beat a single big reward. The 3/6/10 structure means the customer is always close to something. Compare that to a paper card where the only reward is at stamp 10. most customers drop off before they get there.

What's available but not yet activated

STAMPEDE has features that OMMA has access to but hasn't activated at the time of writing:

  • WhatsApp automations (WhatsApp reaches 84% of Singapore's internet users). birthday rewards, near-milestone nudges, and win-back messages for inactive customers. Built and ready, not yet turned on.

  • Magic Ads. Instagram and Facebook ad creation with AI copy generation and offline attribution. Available but not launched.

  • AI weekly reports. AI analyses OMMA's data every week and generates a plain-English summary.

  • AI fraud detection. nightly analysis of activity logs for suspicious patterns.

  • Push notifications. browser-based push for customers who added the loyalty card to their home screen.

As these features are activated, we'll update this case study with results.

Josiah is also rolling out STAMPEDE across CHA MULAN's 8 bubble tea outlets, with now 3,500 members.
